We are very passionate about gardens. We love to renovate gardens. We will relocate what you like and enjoy and add new plants to boost your garden’s appeal. We like to add plants that lengthen the garden’s season. Some plants bloom quite early in the spring and some plants bloom quite late into the fall. This can increase your enjoyment of your garden for visual appeal for you and your neighbours as well as for pollinators in the area. Transplanting usually works best in the spring or fall. Some plants can even be divided to increase your garden coverage or to provide another spot with a plant you enjoy.

Pruning can sometimes be necessary to keep plants away from buildings and each other. We like to prune in a more natural way but can also shear if preferred. We do keep sanitizer with us to clean pruning tools in an effort to keep from spreading disease from site to site.

Weeding is part of the garden work that can be helped with fresh mulch. Composted bark mulch is really good for suppressing weeds and enhancing the beauty of your gardens. For the health of the garden beds, compost and fresh soil can be added from time to time to add nutrition to the soil and protect root zones.

CONTAINERS

Containers are accent pieces for your space adding color and beauty from the additional plants as well as the pots themselves. We are happy to provide container plants to increase blooms and foliage for you to enjoy. A wide variety of plants can be used to bring color, motion and food into your porch or patio. Containers can be set up to change with each season and can also be a spot for perennials that only need a little refreshing from time to time. Annuals are often used in containers because of their ability to bloom for an extended period of time.

Lawns are really part of the garden too! Regular maintenance helps keep the weeds suppressed and the grass tidy in your lawn. A nice lawn edge helps the appearance of the lawn and also helps define the garden beds. Typically, lawns with irrigation can be on a two-week mowing cycle and lawns with irrigation usually need to be mowed weekly. A time-released fertilizer feeds the grass without giving too much nitrogen at once. Moss control is also available by lime and anti-moss products. Core aeration and power raking are also helpful to rejuvenate the lawn. Overseeding and topdressing the lawn can keep your lawn fresh. Rolls of turf give an instant coverage to bare soil and helps with erosion control.

In our area, the European chafer beetle is an issue in lawns. We have found a natural product that is fairly new to the market and seems to be more effective than nematodes. A healthy lawn is one of the most effective ways to work against the chafers beetle.

MAINTENANCE

Garden maintenance is a very necessary part of owning gardens. Weeding is part of the garden work that can be reduced with fresh mulch. Composted bark mulch is really good for suppressing weeds and enhancing the beauty of your gardens. For the health of the garden beds, compost and fresh soil can be applied from time to time to add nutrition to the soil and protect root zones. Pruning can sometimes be necessary to keep plants away from buildings and each other. We like to prune in a natural way but can also shear if preferred. We clean our pruning tools with sanitizer to keep from spreading disease from site to site. Hedges provide privacy and can divide up garden spaces into “rooms”. Sometimes hedges can crowd buildings, lanes, sidewalks, and other plants. We are happy to help with the maintenance of hedges and other plants that need shaping.

Irrigation maintenance: irrigation maintenance is key to saving water. Irrigation heads get out of position allowing the water to go into the wrong places even from a fully-functioning head and nozzle. Heads, pipes and nozzles sometimes get broken and end up leaking. Plants grow and require heads and nozzles to be repositioned. Timers can fail and a new timer needs to be installed.

TRELLIS & PATIO INSTALLATION

Custom work is available. Trellises can provide screening for sheds or neighbors. New patios can give a resting place to enjoy the outdoors.

Landscape design is a useful tool in maximizing your use of space. We are happy to help with the discussion and planning of your outdoor spaces. Typically, a property is drawn in Autocad and sometimes in Sketchup as well. This method tends to help visualize the new garden.
